“Laois Roads Policing unit stopped a vehicle near Portarlington yesterday after an insurance alert,” Gardai said.

Laois Gardai say they stopped a car which hadn’t been taxed for over three years.

The Nissan car was stopped due to an insurance alert and gardai found it wasn’t taxed in over 1,100 days, the NCT expired three years ago and there wasn’t a valid insurance certificate.

“The tax on the vehicle was out 1169 days, the NCT expired in July 2020 and the driver admitted there was no insurance on the vehicle. The vehicle was seized and court proceedings have commenced,” Gardai stated.

Separately, Gardai seized a Hyundai car in Rathdowney at the weekend.

“Vehicle seized under Section 41 of the Road Traffic Act. Court date to follow,” Gardai said.
