On Friday August 4, many students in Mountrath Community School were gearing up to meet their old school friends as they were due to head to the Bridge House Hotel in Tullamore for their debs. For one student, he had to plan his day accordingly as he had a Premier Intermediate Hurling Championship the same evening.

Brochan O’Reilly, who plays in goals for the Portlaoise hurlers, knew he had a busy day ahead. The young man had to get suited and booted, get photos with his girlfriend Grainne Delaney, a camogie player from Camross and his friends before swapping his navy suit for the green and white of Portlaoise for a game at 6.45pm that evening in Mountmellick against Camross. His dedication to the cause proved

As soon as referee Jamie McDonald blew the full-time whistle, it was time for O’Reilly to get showered and into his suit for the second time and head to Tullamore to dance the night away with his classmates.
