Collided with bicycle in Portarlington

A woman admitted careless driving after colliding with a cyclist in Portarlington.
Karen Doyle, 34, of 6 Arlington Estate, Portarlington admitted careless driving on the Lea Road in Portarlington on February 19 last.
The woman’s barrister explained that the incident involved a car and a pedal cycle. He said the incident occurred after his client had stopped at a junction and was pulling away again.
“She simply didn’t see the cyclist and the cyclist glanced off her car,” he remarked.
He said the woman was aged 34 and worked in administration.
“She is anxious not to get disqualified,” he told the sitting of Portlaoise District Court.
Garda Sergeant JJ Kirby said the defendant had no previous convictions.
Judge Andrew Cody said there would be no disqualification. He fined the woman €500 and gave her three months to pay.
