Camross and O’Moore’s traveled to the LOETB Centre of Excellence on Saturday afternoon to compete for a place in this year’s Hyland Transport Intermediate Final.

The sides met in the final last year where extra time was necessary to separate them, with O’Moore’s taking away a one-point win.

Camross 2-9

O’Moore’s 0-9

The game was neck in neck until the 59th minute when Aimee Collier rattled the O’Moore’s net to push her side comfortably ahead by six. Despite digging deep to try muster up a come back, O’Moore’s were denied by a resilient Camross defence.

The opening two scores came as a result of Laura Marie Maher being fouled d and converting both frees herself withinfour minutes. It took Camross only two minutes to reply and they did so in the best possible way. Sarah Anne Fitzgerald played a lovely ball into Aimee Collier, she found GrainneDelaney who turned her woman and found the back of O’Moore’s net.

The next three scores came from placed balls off the stick of the accurate Collier. Collier was fouled to convert the first free with Aoife Daly fouled for the second. A Delaney attempt was deflected over the end line allowing Collier to convert the resulting 45’.

Mary Keating stepped up for O’Moore’s and pointed the first point from play in the 16th minute. Delaney found herself in the face of Marie Kennedy once again but was blocked down superbly by Aoife Hyland.

The game went end to end for the next ten minutes but neither team could convert any chances they created. The final score of the half came in the 32nd minute when Andrea Scully was fouled allowing Collier to convert her third free of the game pushing her side four points ahead at the break, (1-4 to 0-3).

O’Moore’s almost got off to the best possible start but Keating’s goal attempt was denied by Aedin Lowry. Maher converted her third point of the match only a minute later. A great team score soon followed for Camross with a Fitzgerald free finding Kirsten Keenan who laid the ball off to Collier. Collier was fouled in the progress of shooting and converted her own free. Lynda Keyes added her name to the scoresheet pointing from play.

The girls in blue narrowed the gap to two points within two minutes as Maher pointed from a free while Liadan C-Fennell found Amy Loughman to point her first of the game which was soon followed by a second super score.

The Glen-Dimplex Soaring Star and player of the year nominee Aimee Collier stepped up when her side needed her most and scored two outstanding points from play to extend her teams lead to four points once again. Maher raised yet another white flag from a free leaving only Delaney’s goal between the sides. Collier showed her class once more when she mopped up a loose ball in the square and buried it past Marie Kennedy.

Collier’s goal meant Camross led by six entering six minutes of injury time added on by referee Padraig Dunne. Collier pushed on once again and scored her eight and final point of the game in the 60th minute. The remainder of additional time saw O’Moore’s dig deep looking to steal the game from Camross.

Maher converted a free which was closely followed by Loughman being fouled allowing for another free. With only two minutes to play, Maher played the ball short into the chaotic square with hopes someone might pull on it but unfortunately for them, Sarah Anne Fitzgerald came charging out with the ball and launched it up the field as the final whistle was blown which meant Camross advanced to the all familiar Intermediate final where they will face St Brigid’s.
