Council plans to cut back hedges at selected Laois road junctions for safety

Laois County council give date for start of verge trimming works
Selected Laois road junctions will be cut back by Laois County Council throughout this summer, an official has confirmed.
The road safety works were requested by Fianna Fáíl Cllr John Joe Fennelly, in a motion to the April meeting of Portlaoise Municipal District.
He asked the council to "ensure that all junctions on all roads are clear from grass and vegetation growth in the interest of safety".
"There is growth happening. And do this more than once, for safety reasons so there is good visibility," he urged.
In reply the district engineer said that the Portlaoise Municipal District office will start its verge trimming works on regional road junctions, and on priority junctions on local roads in early Summer.
