Laois County Council has been asked to include a ‘crumbling’ village road in its resurfacing programme.

Fianna Fail Cllr, Padraig Fleming, asked for the inclusion of The Swan Village in the 2024 programme.

He tabled a motion at a recent Portarlington Graiguecullen Municipal District meeting asking ““that Laois County Council include in the 2024 Regional Roads Budget The Swan

Village as the road through the village has deteriorated significantly over the years and also in light of the mains water pipe being replaced a few years ago.”

In reply, Senior Executive Officer, Philip McVeigh, said “Laois County Council will consider this road for inclusion in the next road surfacing programme.

Cllr Fleming thanked Mr McVeigh for the response.

“The road there has been crumbling over the years slowly,” he said.

Independent Cllr Aisling Moran offered her support to the motion.
