Court grants transfer of Laois pub licence

Application regarding Mountmellick pub made at Portlaoise District Court
A drinks licence was transferred to new operators of a Mountmellick pub at a sitting of Portlaoise District Court.
Garda Sergeant Mark Daly said there was no objection to the application as Joanne Deegan applied for an Ad Interim Transfer for Turley’s Pub on Harbour Street in Mountmellick.
Ms Deegan told the court she had almost 13 years experience in the hospitality trade and had worked in hotels including Castle Durrow, the Midlands Park Hotel and the Tullamore Court Hotel.
She said all staff would be trained in licensing laws and the pub would operate standard opening and closing times.
Ms Deegan told the sitting of Portlaoise District Court that the pub was a “wet pub” at present but work was ongoing to turn it into a gastro pub.
Judge Andrew Cody granted the application.
