Damaged neighbour’s car in Portlaoise

A man who damaged a neighbour’s car in Portlaoise has been given time to pay compensation.
Raymond Malone, 39, of 76 Laurel Drive, Esker Hills, Portlaoise admitted causing €900 worth of damage to a neighbour's Nissan Qashqai at Laurel Drive on November 6 last.
Sgt JJ Kirby said the man has 28 previous convictions but they are mainly for road traffic offences.
Solicitor Barry Fitzgerald said the incident arose as a result of “a neighbourly dispute” and said, “I believe relations are a lot better now…he wants to make good the loss.”
Judge Michelle Finan told the man to gather up €900 compensation along with a further €300 by September 7, 2023. “If you do that and you commit no offences, I will consider leaving you without a conviction,” she said.
Judge Finan adjourned the case until September 7, 2023 for finalisation.
