Stradbally's Electric Picnic Residents Committee met with festival organisers

Stradbally’s Electric Picnic Residents Committee say plans are well advanced for this year's festival.

A spokesperson said representatives from the Festival Republic had assured their committee that the event was going ahead as planned from August 16 to 18.

The spokesperson said it was the first meeting between residents and Festival Republic representatives this year.  They were told the festival would return to a September date next year.

“They said that we wouldn’t have had a meeting with them if it wasn’t going ahead,” the spokesperson explained.

The group issued a statement explaining that they had a meeting in relation to the event earlier today.

“We have met with representatives of Festival Republic, plans are well advanced for the festival and we are waiting on their final plan before communicating it to the community, we will keep you updated.

The committee are busy working behind the scenes organising for this year's festival. Letters will be distributed to eligible residents in the coming weeks regarding ticket signing for your area,” the committee stated.

Electric Picnic organisers dismissed speculation about the staging of the festival only last week.

"Of course it's going ahead. We released the line up late April last year also," a spokesperson told the Leinster Express/Laois Live when asked about the line-up announcement last week.
