Dunamaise Arts Centre in Portlaoise to host event

Portlaoise's arts centre is set to host a sustainable fashion swap with a creative twist.

The team at the Dunamaise Arts Centre is delighted to host a Sustainable Fashion Event Clothes Swap facilitated by artist, Rebecca Deegan.

"Featuring wearable art displays, upcycling ideas, demos from slow-fashion designers and makers, this event is a sustainable fashionista's ideal afternoon out," said the team at the Portlaoise arts hub in advance.

You can drop your pre-loved items to Dunamaise Arts Centre during opening hours in the two weeks before the event in February.

People can shop at the event with tokens received in exchange for items received. No more than 20 items per person can be donated. You'll receive on token per item donated.

The organisers ask that you bring clean clothes, shoes and accessories only. All adult sizes, genders and types of clothing items. Bring your tokens on the day, or get them at the door from 12pm on Saturday, February 22.

Special guests on the day are creative troop My Brat Bhride.

The aim of this project is to promote a revival of the Brat Bhride tradition across Ireland at a community level, embracing togetherness, celebrating communities and cherishing our heritage by involving the wisdom and experience of older members of society.

Visual Artist Donna Kearns will display customised clothing on the day.

The event runs from 12pm to 3pm on Saturday, February 22. Entry with free access to demos is €4.
