Free bed and mattress recycling day for Laois households

Laois people wanting to rid themselves of old unwanted mattresses and beds, have the perfect chance this August.

Laois County Council has returned their popular mattress amnesty day, which in the past has taken in thousands of old mattresses at no charge to the public.

The day will take place this year in Portlaoise Rugby Club, on Saturday, August 3, from 9.30am to 2.30pm.

New to the offer this year is the acceptance of old beds as well. 

The offer is only for domestic customers. Items must be clean and dry.  

The usual cost of taking in mattresses to the Laois recycling centre at Kyletalesha is €20 per mattress, on top of the charge of €10 for a van or small trailer to enter the landfill site.
