Green Party Leader lined up for Laois speech at environmental expo

Laois Offaly-based Green Party Minister of State Pippa Hackett has lined up her party leader for a public event in Portlaoise in June.
Apart from attending in person, Minister Eamon Ryan will also be the keynote speaker for the Greening our Communities event on Thursday, June 15.
Minister Hackett says the information evening is for individuals and groups working in our communities on climate action, sustainability, and environmentalism
A statement said that apart from Minister Ryan's speech, the event will have speakers and exhibitors.
The invitees consist of community groups, development associations, tidy towns groups, town teams, SEC’s and generally anyone in Laois and Offaly who are working within their communities on matters of climate action, environmentalism and sustainability etc.
Minister Hackett has also spoken about the event to be held at the Dunamaise Arts Centre.
"I am very lucky to work with communities where there is a noted increase in climate action and sustainable environmental activities. Indeed, the success of this activity is based on the commitment and drive of our local communities and how freely they can access information, support and funding.
"The purpose of this event is to recognise these activities and provide access for individuals and groups working within their community to information on the supports and funding opportunities available to them," she said.
The event begins at 7:30 pm with an information expo and demonstrations. Minister Eamon Ryan will take the floor at 8pm to deliver his address.
This will be followed by case study presentations moderated by Minister Hackett up to 9 pm. This will be followed by a Q&A 9:30pm with the event concluding with networking and refreshments.
Tickets for the Greening our Communities in the Dunamaise Arts Centre are available on Eventbrite.
