Some 60 students and staff are busily preparing to bringing Grease to life this December at the Dunamaise Arts Centre.
The many teachers staging the musical this year are thrilled with the great interest from students.
“We have very talented students in Transition Year this year and they are very excited to perform in front of friends and family this December 13th and 14th.
“There was a lot of excitement when the students found out they would be performing Grease. The school has been filled with all the classic Grease songs so many of us have grown to love over the years. This will be the first time for many of our students to perform on such a big stage and they are relishing the challenge,” a spokesperson for the staff told the Leinster Express / Laois Live.
Some of the lead actors include Matthew Cunningham as Danny, Heidi O Mahoney as Sandy, Vicky Lee Holohan as Frenchy the dreamer and member of the Pink Ladies and Bart Trela as Kenickie who is second in command of the Burger Palace boys.
The leader of the Pink Ladies Rizzo is played by Caoimhe Fingleton, and ready to make everyone laugh is Adam Murphy as Roger. Cayle Bourke has been brilliant as Eugene and has always lifted the spirits of his peers during rehearsal times.
“The students have shown great dedication and commitment over the last few months inside and outside of school. We are looking forward to seeing the talent of our students showcased on stage,” the teachers said.
