The Junior Cert results finally came out this Wednesday, November 23 across Ireland, two months later than normal.
However one Laois principal has pointed out that a nine week delay meant students could not rely on the results to choose their subjects for the Leaving Cert Cycle.
The principal of St Mary's CBS in Portlaoise Maura Murphy said however that most of their students chose to do Transition Year and can luckily take their time in the exam decisions.

"It is nearly Christmas, they are normally out in mid September. If you were depending on the Junior Cert to make decisions, you wouldn't have had it. We are happy that we had such a big crowd choosing to do TY this year," she said.
"We are delighted with the results for our students. The number of distinctions and higher merits was impressive. I am proud of the lads, and my teachers," Ms Murphy said.
