International coffee chain approved for drive-through in Portlaoise
Laois coffee fans can soon get their fix on the go in Portlaoise, with the approval by planners for a drive-thru service.
British based international coffee company Costa Coffee has been granted permission by Laois County Council to install the drive-thru at its café in Portlaoise Retail Park.
The approval was granted this week, after the applicant, MBCC Foods (Ireland) Ltd., gave Further Information regarding road safety.
They have agreed to install an uncontrolled pedestrian crossing, including streetlighting.
The plan requires the removal of 18 parking spaces next to the café, which is in the centre of the carpark for the retail park.
The drive-thru will also include a canopy and service hatch, a height restrictor/entrance barrier on the access lane, directional signs, an order station, menu board, advertisement signs and totem signs of 6 and 8 metres in height respectively.
The café opened in 2018, with a second in Laois Shopping Centre and a third in Portarlington.
