An Offaly was told if he comes back before the court again he will do time in prison.

On December 10, 2021, at 1.45am Ian Dunne, (35) of Canal View, Daingean, was stopped on Main Street, Daingean by Garda Kenneth Allen.

He was driving with no insurance or NCT. He elected to produce the documents at Tullamore Garda Station but he failed to do so.

He had two previous convictions for driving with no insurance and on June 2, 2021 he had been disqualified from driving.

Solicitor Donal Farrelly said his client was a 35 year old man with four children.

He was trying to do a job on a friend's car and had driven it a short distance to see if it was working properly. He had been a mechanic before his current job. He doesn't drive now, Mr Farrelly said.

Judge Andrew Cody imposed a six month sentence and suspended it for five years. He disqualified him from driving for eight years.

In addition he fined him €300 for driving without a driving licence. If he comes back driving without insurance he will do the time, he told Mr Farrelly.
