Land makes well over €500 an acre for leasing in Laois

Land for leasing in Laois made well over €500 an acre at a recent auction.

The auction was for the leasing of 50-acres of grazing land for ten years at Ballymaddock, Abbeyleix.

Joe Coogan conducted the land leasing auction last Friday week at his Auction Room in Ballycomey House Castlecomer.

About 70 people were in attendance with a lot of interested bidders.

Bidding was very swift with the bidding concluded at €570 per acre. The land had no entitlements and farm buildings were not included.

"This denotes that there is very keen interest on land leasing at present," noted Joe Coogan.
