Man living in Portarlington hotel accused of committing offence in Offaly

THE services of an interpreter in the Somali language have been ordered for a man living in Laois accused of dangerous driving.

Tullamore District Court heard that Mohamud Abdulgadir Osman (26), East End Hotel, Main Street, Portarlington, did not have good English.

Mr Osman is alleged to have driven dangerously at Church Road, Cloncollig, Tullamore, Offaly on January 11 last.

He appeared before Judge Andrew Cody represented by Brian Duffy, solicitor who attempted to get instructions from him.

Judge Cody then adjourned the prosecution to September 25 next, certifying for a Somali interpreter.

A plea of guilty or not guilty is to be entered on that date and if the accused is denying the charge then a hearing will take place on October 21, Judge Cody ruled.
