Emo Rath AC athlete Chloe Keenan has been selected by Athletics Leinster to compete this September at the CSIT World Sports Games in the beautiful region of Emilia-Romagna at the famous Adriatic sea coast.

Athletics Leinster selected twelve athletes from Junior (U/20) and Senior ranks. Chloe is the only Laois athlete to be selected for the event, which is held every two years.

Chloe has just completed her Leaving Cert exams at Scoil Chriost Rí Portlaoise. Already this year, she has won National medals in Triple Jump and 100m hurdles. She has set PB’s in the Hurdles, Triple Jump and Long Jump this year, which sets her up well for her upcoming national competitions including the seven event Heptathlon.

Emo Rath Athletic Club is a small rural club based out of the village of Emo. With limited facilities it continues to churn out national medal winning athletes every year. This year so far, Chloe’s brother Eoin won his first National Senior medal in the Long Jump, while Cillin Hoey continues to win Regional and National medals, particularly in the sprint hurdles. The next batch of younger athletes are now starting to come through and the future remains bright for this small but highly successful club.

The club would like to wish Chloe all the best at the World Sports Games. The experience will no doubt stand to her in her future athletic career.
