Laois business scoops Tyre Champion award

A Laois business is celebrating after taking home the Tyre Champion Award at the 2026 Repak Resource Awards.

Midland Trye Services Ltd, based in Borris-in-Ossory, was recognised at Ireland's National Environmental Awards held at The Mansion House in Dublin. The event brought together leaders from across Ireland’s business, environmental, and community sectors to celebrate the positive impact of environmental initiatives nationwide.

Midland Tyre Services Ltd was recognised for its initiative to help fleet and transport operators realise the environmental and economic benefits of the circular economy. Through effective tyre management, education and maintenance, the initiative helps extend tyre life, reduce waste and support more sustainable fleet operations.

Speaking at the 2026 Repak Resource Awards ceremony, Repak CEO Zoe Kavanagh said: “Congratulations to Midland Tyre Services Ltd on this well-deserved recognition at the 2026 Repak Resource Awards. Their work demonstrates the important role that businesses across Laois are playing in reducing waste, improving recycling and supporting Ireland's transition to a circular economy.

“The calibre of entries this year was exceptionally high, showcasing the innovation and commitment taking place across the country. Initiatives such as this highlight the positive impact that practical environmental action can have at both a local and national level.”

The Overall Repak Resource Award was presented to Panda in recognition of its leadership in environmental education and its innovative approach to encouraging positive recycling behaviour, including through its Cleaner Bin Imaging Service pilot project.
