There was plenty of Laois involvement in Bekan

Laois Camogie players made a significant impact in this year's Ashbourne and Purcell Cup finals which took place over the weekend in the Connacht GAA Centre of Excellence.

In the prestigious Ashbourne Cup final, Portlaoise’s Susie Delaney was part of the University of Limerick team that defeated UCC 3-10 to 2-11.

Meanwhile, in the second-tier Purcell Cup, Camross’ Grainne Delaney starred for Mary Immaculate College in their 1-17 to 2-12 victory over University of Limerick’s second team. Delaney's superb goal in the final (See below) was a standout moment, and her exceptional performance earned her the Player of the Match accolade.

In the Purcell Cup semi-finals, there was also plenty of Laois involvement. Camross trio Leah Daly, Kirsten Keenan, and Aimee Collier, all represented SETU Carlow. Unfortunately for the Laois trio, SETU Carlow fell short, losing out to UL’s second team.

The Laois Camogie team will get their VERY Div 3A National League underway on Saturday, February 22 at home to Kildare.
