Following their failure to get any points under their belt in the All-Ireland Intermediate Championship, the Laois Camogie side have found out what they must to do in order to avoid the drop to the Premier-Junior grade.

Noel Brennan's side will face either Carlow or Dublin in the relegation decider as his side have been placed directly into the relegation final while the Carlow and Dublin game takes place at the semi-final stage. Ultimately, both sides will given two chances to save their seasons while for Laois they'll only one chance to avoid the drop.

In bizarre circumstances, Laois were actually relegated from this grade last year by Kildare but The Camogie Association decided that Laois would remain at the Intermediate grade as they felt they would be too strong for the Premier-Junior grade. 12 months have passed and Laois are once again at the same stage as they were last year.

Laois played three group games against Meath, Westmeath and Kerry with them losing by an average of 19 points. The Meath game saw The Royals fire in six goals as they won 6-19 to 2-3 while the Westmeath game saw ten points separate the teams. Their final group game on Saturday was against Kerry with the away side leaving Rathdowney with a 2-15 to 0-9 victory.

In terms of Laois' possible opponents in the relegation final, they have previous with Carlow this season with their neighbours knocking them out of the Leinster Intermediate Championship after a titanic battle which went to extra-time. Dublin's second team come into the relegation stages with losses against Kilkenny, Cork and Galway. That group was made solely of second teams as their first teams all compete in the Senior grade.

The Carlow and Dublin game is due to be played on July 8 with Laois' relegation final to be played on July 15 with a venue to be decided once their opponents are known.
