Laois communities offer support to locals affected by Storm Éowyn power outages

Community Hubs across the county have been established to aid those without power
Laois community hubs remain open for those affected by the aftermath of Storm Éowyn.
Camross Community Hub, based out of the Poet's Cottage in Camross Village, remains open for locals without power and hot water.
"The Hub is open for our community from 9am to 4pm on Tuesday," a representative said.
"We have WiFi access (WIFI4U), you can charge your phone and laptop, and get some water," they said.
"There might even be a few biscuits!".
The Hub have expressed that they are aware that many locals remain without power, and encourage people to pay a visit.
"You are welcome to drop in if you want a change of scenery, get some reading material and recharge the batteries," they said.
The Hub will host their first coffee morning of 2025 on Wednesday January 29 from 10:30am to 12:30pm.
Those with any queries are encouraged to contact the Hub through their Facebook page.
It was recently announced that planning permission will soon be sought for the installation of a café at the Poet's Cottage.
The work follows the awarding of over €256,403 towards the project in 2024 under the EU Just Transition Fund (EU JTF) programme, co-funded by the Government of Ireland and the European Union.
