Funds raised from an annual Christmas event in the Slieve Blooms are set to give a big boost to services provided by Laois Hospice.
The Clonaslee St Stephen's Day walk group welcomed Laois Hospice Committee to the Heritage Centre, Clonaslee on Friday, April 17 to present their cheque of €37,600 proceeds following their very successful walk on St Stephen's Day 2025.
The cheque was presented to Mary Delaney, Chairperson of Laois Hospice Foundation, by Lucy Feighery and Edel Bourke, two of the fundraising walk committee members.
Sheila Bourke, walk co-ordinator, thanked everyone involved for all their hard work in making the day such a "wonderful success". She said that with the weather playing a big part, huge crowds attended the event, which she said also created a "wonderful atmosphere" on the walk and at the Clonaslee Community Centre, where refreshments were served.
