Laois County Council has announced details of road closures around Stradbally for the Electric Picnic.

The council intends to close the R427 from Cahill’s Cross Killavally to Stradbally from 12pm on Thursday, August  31 to 4 p.m. on Monday, September 4.

The council explained that the closure is necessary to facilitate the traffic management plan for the Electric Picnic Festival at Stradbally Hall.  The following alternative routes are available.

Traffic travelling from Ballyroan to Money Cross along the R427:

The R427 road is closed from Cahill’s Cross to its Junction with the N80 in Stradbally.

“To access the N80/Stradbally turn left at Money Cross onto the R426. Follow this road past Sheffield Cross. Continue on this road until you reach the roundabout with the N80 at Bloomfield Roundabout. Turn right at the roundabout onto the N80. Continue travelling east along this road until you reach Stradbally,” the council stated.

Alternatively, turn right at Money Cross and follow the R426 through Timahoe and the Swan to Newtown Cross which gives access to the N78 and N80, they said.

Traffic travelling from Timahoe (R426):

The council said  traffic can take the road to the Swan and onto Newtown Cross which gives access to the N78 and N80.

It is advised that Traffic refrain from using the L3838 from Timahoe to Stradbally as restrictions will be in place.

Local Access will be maintained and appropriate signage will be in place to divert traffic along the alternative route.
