Laois County Council to meet the HSE to discuss its disused properties

Laois County Council will seek a meeting with the HSE to discuss the use of vacant properties for housing.
Fine Geal Cllr Barry Walsh said he has been contacted in relation to the use of Health Service Executive(HSE) buildings which aren’t being used.
“I have had a number of queries and raised a motion at MD(Municipal District) level about HSE dispensary buildings that are not being used and I have asked for a response,” said Cllr Walsh.
“If they are not going to reopen they could be used for housing,” he suggested.
Director of Services Angela McEvoy said she would organise a meeting with the HSE.
“In relation to the old properties owned by the HSE, I will arrange a meeting myself with the HSE just in relation to that,” Ms McEvoy said.
“We will review a couple of the properties that are around the county that we know, and we certainly have some of them on derelict sites(list), or going through that as well. We will arrange that before the next September meeting,” she said.
The issue was discussed at the meeting of Laois County Council earlier this week.
