Laois Gardaí catch driver uninsured since the Ice Bucket Challenge
Seat Ibiza seized by Gardaí near Portlaoise
Laois Gardaí have seized a car in Portlaoise whose driver's insurance had expired an incredible 12 years ago.
A red Seat Ibiza has been confiscated by the Laois Offaly Garda Division, after its driver was stopped on the Portlaoise to Dublin road.
The Garda division gave a Reeling in the Years recap of 2014, reporting the road crime incident on their social media on Monday, March 16.
"Germany win the World Cup. Pharrell Williams & Happy dominates the music charts. The Ice Bucket Challenge went viral.Love/Hate had the nation glued to the telly. Diesel was €1.30 a litre," the Garda post recalls.
"And this Driving Licence quietly expired....Unfortunately, it never made a comeback.
"Fast forward 12 years and it reappeared in Portlaoise when this vehicle was stopped without insurance," the Garda division said.
