Car seized and over €600 in fines issued by Mountrath gardaí

Laois gardaí made an arrest during patrols aimed at targeting anti-social behaviour under Operation Coinním.

Mountrath Gardaí stopped a suspicious vehicle during the course of the operation and apprehended a motorist they say had no tax, no NCT, no insurance, and no driving license. CONTINUE READING BELOW PHOTO

"A drug test revealed Cannabis, Amphetamines, and Benzodiazepines in the driver's system. The driver was arrested and taken to Portlaoise Garda Station for a blood test," said a garda spokesperson.

"The vehicle was seized, and the driver received €660.00 in fines for multiple offences, including driving unaccompanied as a learner and not displaying necessary discs.

"Mountrath Gardaí continue to ensure road safety by strictly enforcing traffic laws."
