Laois independent seals General Election candidacy with signature

Portarlington-based independent makes candidacy official at Portlaoise Court
Elaine Mullally added her name to the official list of Laois General Election candidates with just two weeks left to polling day.
The Portarlington-based independent, candidate is contesting her first election, was a relatively early entrant to the field of 10 hopefuls contesting for three weeks.
Ms Mullally signed her nomination papers in the company of Laois Returning Officer Rory Hanniffy at Portlaoise Courthouse on Friday, November 15.
Ms Mullally got involved in politics as a founder member of the relatively new Independent Ireland in 2023 but split from the party for undisclosed reasons in 2024 after the European Elections when Ciaran Mullooly was elected as an MEP for Laois.
While involved in community groups in Portarlington, Ms Mulllally is vocal on many topics via social media.
Polling day is Friday, November 29. A total of ten candidates are contesting for three Laois seats in the Dáil at the General Election.
