Laois Ladies looking to bounce back from opening round defeat in Division 2

They make the trip to Cavan
Tom Devereux and Billy Kiernan's Laois Ladies side will be looking to get their first win as Laois managers in this year's Division 2 after an opening round defeat to Ulster champions Donegal.
The Laois team last Sunday saw many new fresh faces with several players making their Laois Senior debuts for the O'Moore County. Only four players that featured against Donegal had been involved in Laois' 2022 All-Ireland win over Wexford which shows that there has been a huge turnover of players in the last two years. Mo Nerney, Eimear Barry, Clodagh Dunne and Anna Moore are those four players.
Laois have a good record against Cavan in recent years with the sides meeting twice in 2023. They clashed in round six of the league last year with a hat-trick from Mo Nerney proving crucial in Laois' victory. Their second clash had a lot more riding on it as they met in the Senior Relegation semi-finals in St Brigid's of Roscommon. Laois came away with the win on that occasion too to seal their Senior status for 2024 in what would prove to be Donie Brennan's final game in charge.
Cavan will come into Sunday's game hoping to right the wrongs of their defeats to Laois in 2023. They too lost their opening league fixture to Tipperary 1-5 to 0-2 so both teams know that anything other than a victory could dent their promotion hopes. This year sees a new format in Division 2 with the top two teams both going up to Division One as in previous years it was only the winners of the final who would get promoted.
Laois v Cavan throws-in at 2pm on Sunday, January 28 and takes place in Knockbride GAA,L3504. Tickets for the game can be purchased here while the Leinster Express/ Laois Live will also be doing a live blog for those not able to attend.
