Laois LGFA not wanting to 'overshadow' county finals with further comment on fixture mess

Laois LGFA have said that no further comment will be made about the arrangement of fixtures before tomorrow's county finals as they don't want to 'overshadow' the players involved. It's expected that a meeting will be held on Monday to go through all the details which a statement expected to follow.
The Intermediate Final between Shanahoe and St Josephs is fixed for Saturday, October 7 in Stradbally with the Senior Final following late that day between Portlaoise and St Conleth's. It is also fixed for Stradbally. Meanwhile, the Junior final involving Crettyard v Portlaoise will be played in Park/Ratheniska at noon on Saturday.
The fixtures were finalised by the Laois Ladies Gaelic Football Association after it was unable to secure use of Laois Hire O'Moore Park from the GAA. On the same day, the Laois GAA Premier Intermediate Hurling Championship semi-final between Portlaoise and Rathdowney-Errill throws-in at 4.30pm while Trumera will face Colt-Shanahoe in the Intermediate Hurling decider. Both matches are due to be played in Laois Hire O'Moore Park.
Laois Ladies footballer and one of Laois' most prolific forwards, Mo Nerney took to social media to criticise the decision to take the Ladies finals out of the county ground as in previous years all three grades would get to play the finals on the hallowed turf.
"It's an absolute disgrace that the Laois Ladies county finals are not in our county grounds this weekend. Every player that reaches a final no matter what grade deserves to be in O'Moore Park on county final day. Laois Ladies county board have a lot to answer for here," she said.
Ladies Gaelic Football matches can only be played at O'Moore Park if a request is made by the LGFA of the GAA which owns the Stadium. The GAA does not have to accede to these requests.
