Non party candidate Aisling Moran will continue asking for 'absolute transparency' if elected

What are your priorities?

To work as hard as I can to represent the people in my municipal district, in whatever way I can. While I cannot promise that I will always find a resolution, I can promise that I will do my very best to help.

What is the biggest issue facing your area?

We in rural Ireland are being left behind when it comes to funding and development; In February of this year, I had to argue my point to secure €150,000 for road safety works for the third largest town in Laois, Graiguecullen.

The entire Graiguecullen–Portarlington Municipal District should receive its fair share of any funding / grants given to Laois County Council, be it for cycle lanes, pedestrian crossings or any other necessary road safety measures – I will continue to ensure that this will happen.

Why do you think you would make a good County Councillor?

I am personable and approachable, dedicated, hardworking and I am a good listener. I believe there needs to be transparency and accountability in local government and throughout the public sector.

When using public money, we need to be getting ‘More bang for our buck’. Councillors are responsible for many important decisions and I am not afraid to ask the hard questions. If elected, I will continue to ask for absolute transparency in Laois County Council.

Aisling Moran is a candidate in the Graiguecullen Portarlington Municipal District. In the lead up to polling day on June 7 The Leinster Express / Laois Live will be featuring profiles on all 47 candidates vying for one of the 19 seats on Laois County Council.
