A man from Laois has been arrested on suspicion of stealing dogs, a BMW, obstructing police and drug driving in Wales.

North Wales Police are trying to locate the owners of one of two dogs which were in a BMW X5 that was stopped in Colwyn Bay on the afternoon of Tuesday, June 3.

Police were called shortly before 2pm following a report that a vehicle towing a caravan had been seen weaving in the carriageway of the A55. Officers responded and caught up with the vehicle – a BMW X5.

“The driver tested positive for cannabis at the roadside and was arrested. Two dogs were also found in the vehicle however the driver was unable to give an account of who owned the animals or what they were called,”  North Wales Police said in an online post.

The dogs – a Jack Russell cross puppy and a Fell Terrier, were taken to the Colwyn Bay Neighbourhood Policing Team office at Police Headquarters, and they have since been taken to kennels where they remain.
