Laois Offaly Gardai issue advice to Leaving Cert students

Laois Offaly Gardai wished Leaving Cert students well with their exam results and issued some advice.

“We wish all Leaving Certificate Students the best of luck as they are due to receive their results. The Leaving Certificate Classes of 2023 are to receive their results on the 25th August 2023,” Gardai stated.

“Students, please do remember that your results do not define you as a person nor will they define your future. There are those of you who will get the results that you have been hoping for but there are also those who will not and who will feel disappointed as a result. Please be very mindful of this and be kind to your fellow students and friends,” Gardai stated.

“The schools will offer support to you and your Parents/Guardians but there are also a number of other places where advice and support may be sought.  We wish you all every happiness in the world and success in whichever path you choose to take. We may even have a few new recruits amongst ye!”

Gardai also issued a poster outlining some simple measures to help keep students safe if they are going out tonight. The tips include planning the night out and avoiding walking alone or in unlit areas.

Those seeking support, information or reassurance to contact the helpline on 1800 265 165 and all queries will be dealt with in a professional and confidential manner.

Gardai also urged students to be careful if going out celebrating tonight.
