There is delight and pride in the results achieved by Leaving Cert students at the bilingual Dunamase College/Coláiste Dhún Másc in Portlaoise.
Dymphna Kelly is Principal of the secondary school where students can learn through English and as Gaeilge. She is proud of what the class of 2026 has achieved.
“We congratulate our Leaving Certificate Class of 2026 on an excellent set of results. These results reflect years of hard work, determination and commitment from our students, and they should be immensely proud of what they have achieved.
“We are delighted to see strong performances across many subjects. Irish, Mathematics and Business continue to be particular strengths, while this year's results in Computer Science, Physical Education and Music were especially impressive. These achievements highlight both the talent of our students and the wide range of opportunities available at Dunamase College/Coláiste Dhún Másc.
“We are especially proud of those students who achieved the highest grades, over 600 points and those who surpassed the 500-point milestone. Their success is a testament to their dedication and effort throughout their senior cycle years,” she said.
Ms Kelly said the Leaving Cert results day is about more than points alone.
“Many students achieved personal goals, exceeded their own expectations and overcame challenges along the way. Those achievements deserve every bit as much recognition and celebration.
“What makes these results even more significant is that they represent just the fourth year of Leaving Certificate results in the history of Dunamase College/Coláiste Dhún Másc. As a young school, we are immensely proud of the standards our students continue to set and the success they continue to achieve.
“These results build on the strong tradition already being established in the school. Our students have received recognition from leading institutions, including Trinity College Dublin, University College Dublin, Maynooth University and Mary Immaculate College, and we look forward to seeing where this year's graduates go next,” she said.
There was special mention to the Aonad students!
“A huge congratulations to Orlaith Ní Thréanlámh, Tara Woodcock and Keeva Harrington, pictured with their Múinteoir i bhFeighil, Chloe Ní Ghealbháin, following their fantastic Leaving Certificate results.
“A spectacular achievement, with Keeva receiving over 600 points, and Orlaith and Tara both receiving over 500 points.
“These students completed their secondary education through the medium of Irish in our Aonad, making their achievements all the more special. We are incredibly proud of them and wish them every success as they move on to the next chapter.
“Comhghairdeas mór libh,” said the principal.
Thanks were also extended to those who have supported all the students through their school journey.
“I would like to sincerely thank our teachers, parents and guardians for the support they have provided our students throughout their journey. Most importantly, congratulations to our Leaving Certificate students. We are incredibly proud of you and wish you every success in the next chapter of your lives.
“Go n-eirí go geal libh agus rath Dé oraibh don todhchaí,” concluded Ms Kelly.
