Laois road 'falling to pieces'
The council were asked to resurface a road that was “just falling to pieces”.
Independent Cllr Aisling Moran requested the work on the Cullenagh to Ballylinan Road due to its condition.
She asked “that Laois County Council consider resurfacing the road from Cullenagh to Ballylinan as it is in very bad repair.”
In response, Senior Executive Officer, Philip McVeigh, said “Laois County Council will consider this road for inclusion in the next road surfacing programme.”
Cllr Moran thanked Mr McVeigh and said the crews from the council are trying their best to keep it safe.
“We are ringing them constantly and they are coming out and they are filling potholes and they are only gone and the potholes are back into it again,” said Cllr Moran.
“The road is not fit for purpose. It is very, very narrow and the whole sides are gone of it and it is just falling to pieces really,” said Cllr Moran.
Her motion was seconded by Sinn Fein Cllr Aidan Mullins.
