Laois road repairs blamed for puddles splashing house

A house is being splashed by passing cars after Laois roadworks caused new water puddles, a local representative claims.
The Sallyford Pump junction in Ballybrittas now needs water gullies and an extraction pipe according to Cllr PJ Kelly.
He tabled a motion to the March meeting of Portarlington Graiguecullen Municipal District requesting the work.
"This is a stretch of road that was done by the council last year. It forced water onto the road and it has nowhere to go.
"A neighbouring house has a gully that is blocked for a long time. Any car that lands in the water, actually splashes it onto the window, over a two foot wall.
"A lady there told me she once got wet going out of her house to her car," he reported.
In reply, Laois County Council has agreed to a site meeting to identify what works may be needed.
