Four schools in Laois will be able to carry out the works next summer

Four Laois schools have been approved for works that will deliver climate action measures, improving energy efficiency in their buildings.

Shanganamore/Barrowhouse National School, Ballyadams National School, Clonaslee College and St Fergal's College, Rathdowney have all been successful in the latest Climate Action Summer Works Scheme.

Shanganamore/Barrowhouse NS  and Ballyadams NS have been given the go-ahead for climate action and mechanical works.   Clonaslee College has been approved for climate action and external environment projects while St Fergal's College has been approved for climate action and roof works.

Laois TD Sean Fleming welcomed the announcement saying: "These schools can now address building condition needs while delivering climate action measures that improve energy efficiency, reduce carbon emissions and lower operational costs.

"The four schools were assessed and prioritised by the Department based on individual needs of schools and the urgency of the works and a particular focus was supporting projects in special needs.

"I want to complement the schools on their excellent applications for climate and mechanical works during next year's summer holidays.

"It is good that these schools have been approved thereby guaranteeing the works will proceed.
