The sporting success at Coláiste Íosagáin in Portarlington was celebrated with a special assembly at the Laois school recently.
Local clubs who had won county titles were invited into the school campus where students were presented trophies by their sporting heroes. The players were interviewed by transition year students.
It has been a bumper few weeks in Portarlington with the men winning the senior and Junior B county football final, St. Conleths won the ladies senior title and over the border Gracefield recently captured the Junior B hurling title.
“The school is so lucky and proud to have so many present, past students and staff on the teams,” said a school spokesperson.
“Well done to the TY sports council and sports dept for organising such an entertaining and enjoyable morning for all.”
During the event sports co-ordinator Miriam Holland also remembered their colleague and teacher Mr. Liam Hogan with a very poignant tribute.
