All-Ireland U16 B Championship Group 2 Round 5
Laois 6-15
Meath 0-8
Laois got off to the best start possible with Emma Jane Cuddy leathering the ball into the back of the Meath net in the opening minutes. Eimear Murphy pointed from a free soon after and Erin Walsh added her name to the scoresheet. Cuddy raised two white flags adding to her early goal while a second green flag was raised for Laois courtesy of Molly Gorman. The home side's first score came soon after, but they remained quiet once again as Laois took charge.
Murphy pointed from a 45’ as Walsh and Cuddy kept the scores ticking over. Katie Kavanagh split the posts from play to get her first of the contest while the Royals converted a 45. Laois hit the ground running and converted 2-4 on the trot leaving them comfortably ahead by 23 points. 1-2 came from Kavanagh while Annie Dunne earned 1-1 and Katie Lyons added a point from the half-back line.
Meath scored three consecutive points and Kayla O’Meara replied with one from play. Meath converted their eight and final score of the match which was followed up by Cuddy nailing a hat-trick of goals and Walsh sealing the deal with two points, one from a placed ball.
Yet another superb win for the girls leaving them topping their table and being awarded a spot in the semi-final where they will battle it out with Down, the winners going to the U16 B All-Ireland final.
