Light up Laois canal with heartwarming Winter Solstice event
An uplifting Winter Solstice community event is guaranteed to light up the hearts of all who attend this December.
The Laois community is being invited to join a Christmas Lantern Workshop, and then to take their lovely handmade lanterns along to celebrate the Winter Solstice together at the Canal in Vicarstown, on Thursday evening, December 21.
The SVT Activity And Wellness Hub have joined with Laois County Council and Laois Sports Partnership to host the upcoming Christmas Lantern Workshop and Light Up Laois night.
The workshop is hosted by Evgeny Chubatyy and will involve making rattan framed lanterns. It takes place from 2.30 to 4.30pm on Saturday, December 16 in the Old Schoolhouse, Vicarstown.
Workshop places are free, but numbers are limited so book your place fast. Email [email protected] The course is free, and is for over 16s only.
If you can’t make the Lantern workshop, come along anyhow to the Winter Solstice event on December 21 and bring your own candle or any light.
Join in with singing some Christmas Carols, enjoy a cup of Hot Chocolate and take the time to connect with family, friends and neighbours.
The event starts at 7.30pm beside Vicarstown Canal on Winter Solstice Day, December 21 at 7.30pm.
