Man accused of causing serious bodily harm in Christmas Eve collision in Laois 

A book of evidence was served on a man who was charged over a collision in Mountmellick on Christmas Eve 2022. 

Patrick Culleton, 74, of Garoon, Mountmellick appeared before a sitting of Portlaoise District Court charged with careless driving causing serious bodily harm at O’Connell Square, Mountmellick on December 24, 2022. 

Garda Rebecca Gavin gave evidence of serving the book of evidence on the accused. 

Garda Sergeant JJ Kirby said the defendant was charged with one count of careless driving causing serious bodily harm. 

Sgt Kirby said the DPP had directed that the man be sent forward to the next sittings of Portlaoise Circuit Court sitting on June 11, 2024.

Judge Andrew Cody remanded the man on bail and sent the case forward to the next sittings of Portlaoise Circuit Court sitting on June 11, 2024.
