Man accused of driving at 195kmh in Laois

A man appeared in court charged with driving at 195 kmh in Laois. 

Miraslaw Kapuscinski, 46, of 78 White Oaks, Wilton, Cork is accused of dangerous driving on the M7 at Meelick in Laois on January 8 last. 

Garda Sergeant JJ Kirby said the man was alleged to have been driving at 195kmh in a 120kmh zone. “The State won’t be accepting a reduction,” he added. 

Sgt Kirby made the comments in relation to a reduction from dangerous driving to careless driving, which can be accepted in the court under certain circumstances.  

Judge Andrew Cody put the case back to Portlaoise District Court on February 9 for a plea or a date.
