A man who is accused of indecency in Portlaoise was ordered to stay out of the town.

The 63 year-old man who has a Kilkenny address is accused of indecency at Lyster Square in Portlaoise on September 4 last.

A sitting of Portlaoise District Court was told the case is to be sent forward to the Circuit Court.

Solicitor Philip Meagher said his client was adhering to the conditions of his bail which included staying out of Portlaoise, signing on at a garda station and obeying a curfew.

As there was some uncertainty around whether or not reporting restrictions should apply in the case, Judge Andrew Cody imposed restrictions preventing the identification of the accused.

He remanded the man on bail subject to conditions to reappear before Portlaoise District Court on November 16 for service of a Book of Evidence.
