Man caught with drugs in Laois

A fine was handed down to a man who was caught with drugs in Portlaoise.

Lukasz Puk, 41, of No Fixed Abode, Portlaoise admitted having benzodiazepine for personal use at Portlaoise Leisure Centre on April 26, 2023.

Garda Sergeant JJ Kirby told the sitting of Portlaoise District Court that the drugs were valued at €10. He said “the defendant would be well known to the court” due to his previous convictions.

The court was told the defendant has underlying addiction issues.

Judge Nicola Andrews convicted the man and fined him €150.
