Man charged over child pornography

A man appeared before Portlaoise District Court accused of possession of child pornography. 

Reporting restrictions prevent the identification of the 25-year-old man who appeared before Portlaoise District Court. He is charged with possession of child pornography in Laois on September 30, 2020. 

Garda Sergeant JJ Kirby said the DPP was seeking to have the case heard in the higher Circuit Court. 

Adjourning the case to a later date, Judge Andrew Cody sought clarification on the reporting restrictions. 

“The accused should not be identified at the moment. I will revisit that on the 9th of November,” said Judge Cody.
