Man denies reversing into motorway toll bridge

A man has denied reversing into a toll plaza in Laois. 

John Kelly, 64, of 53 Sallins Pier, Sallins, Naas, Co Kildare is accused of dangerous driving at the Toll Plaza,  Clonadacasey in Laois on June 7, 2022. 

A garda told Portlaoise District Court that she had received a call from a supervisor at the M7 Toll Plaza. 

The supervisor told her about an incident on June 7 last. 

“A vehicle reversed back up the Motorway, she alleged it hit against  the entry,” the garda explained. The car then proceeded through the express lane, she said.  

Judge Andrew Cody asked the defendant how he was pleading. 

“I am pleading not guilty,” the man said. 

Judge Cody remanded the case back to Portlaoise District Court on June 27 for hearing.
