Man on assault and weapon charges

A man appeared before Portlaoise District Court charged with assault and producing a weapon.
Emmet Holohan, 37, with an address at 36 Kirwan Park, Mountmellick is accused of Section 4 assault causing harm and production of an article being a carpet knife or blade type weapon at 75 College Avenue, Mountmellick on February 16 last.
The court was told the accused gave no reply when charged. A book of evidence is expected to be ready in the case in four weeks.
He was remanded in custody with consent to bail to appear before Portlaoise District Court again on May 18.
