Massive response to new Community Choir in Portlaoise
150 people now signed up for pilot project
There has been a massive response to the new Community Choir set up in Portlaoise with over 150 people now signed up.
Music Generation Laois in partnership with Portlaoise Family Resource Centre, Laois and Offaly ETB Community Education and Age Friendly Laois, Laois County Council set up the new pilot project which will run over an eight week period.
"The response to our Community Choir has been amazing, with over 150 people signed-up since we started last week," said Music Generation Laois.
"We have now reached capacity at our Tuesday evening session in Laois Music Centre and cannot take any new members there. However, there is still plenty of space (and a cup of tea!) at the morning session in Treo Nua Portlaoise Resource Centre on Wednesdays at 11am but the last chance to join is next Wednesday 5 June.
"Both groups are learning the same repertoire and are preparing for an epic performance mid-July."
The choir is open to age 16+ with no upper age limit.
