More signage needed on “death trap” Laois village road

The issue was raised at a local council meeting
A council meeting was told additional signs are needed on a “death trap” road.
Independent Cllr Ben Brennan requested the measure at the latest monthly meeting of Portarlington Graiguecullen Municipal District.
He asked “that Laois County Council make safe the junction at the bottom of the Cuts in Killeshin.”
Senior Executive Engineer, Philip McVeigh said “Laois County Council will carry out an inspection of this junction to identify possible safety improvements.”
Cllr Brennan said “it is a death trap crossing the road in Killeshin”. He said the traffic is travelling at 80km per hour there and there are a lot of people, including old people, trying to cross the road.
“My idea would be to put three stop signs on that road,” said Cllr Brennan.
Mr McVeigh said the council would consider the proposal.
